Telehealth Psychiatry for the Western Slope

Care Without the Drive

Getting psychiatric care on this side of the mountains usually means a long wait, a long drive, or both. Psychiatric prescribers are thin on the ground west of the divide, and the ones who are here often have months-long waits.

This practice is based in Montrose and runs entirely by telehealth, so where you live matters less than whether the appointment time works. New patients can usually be seen within 24 business hours.

Towns and Counties Served

Patients come from Montrose, Delta, Olathe, Cedaredge, Paonia, Hotchkiss, Ridgway, Ouray, Telluride, Norwood, Nucla, Naturita, Gunnison, Crested Butte, Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade and the smaller places between them. Montrose, Delta, Ouray, San Miguel, Gunnison and Mesa counties are all in range, and so is the rest of Colorado.

There is no office to drive to. Visits happen wherever you have a private space and a phone or computer, which for a lot of patients here means the truck at lunch or the kitchen table after the kids are down.

How Telehealth Works Out Here

The first visit is 60 minutes and covers your history, current symptoms, what has been tried and what you want out of treatment. Follow-ups are shorter and scheduled around what you need.

If lab work would change the plan, it is ordered at a lab near you and billed by that lab. Prescriptions go to your pharmacy, including the small-town ones. If a controlled medication is part of your care, that is discussed directly and follows the practice's controlled substance policy and Colorado rules. When coordination with your primary care provider helps, notes go back to them.

Care is self-pay while credentialing with Blue Cross Blue Shield and UnitedHealthcare is in progress. Pricing is on the Costs page and is the same wherever in Colorado you live.
